Project Story

Farmhouse character, coastal performance.

These clients wanted the warmth of a classic Southern farmhouse — the board-and-batten cladding, the front porch, the wide plank floors — but they were building on the Gulf Coast and couldn't compromise on durability. The solution was a standing-seam metal roof over a board-and-batten fiber cement exterior: the look they wanted, the performance a coastal build demands. Inside, white oak floors run through the main living areas, and the kitchen was designed with a working family in mind — enough counter space to prep a real meal, and an island big enough to seat five.

The outdoor living area was the most logistically complex part of the project. The pool, outdoor kitchen, and screened porch were designed as a single connected space rather than three separate additions bolted together, which meant six different subcontractors — concrete, pool, plumbing, electrical, screen enclosure, and summer kitchen — had to work in the same area over a three-week sequence without getting in each other's way. Chad sequenced that coordination personally, and it showed in the result: a rear yard that feels finished and intentional, not pieced together.
