Built in Baldwin County. For people who plan to stay.

Palmetto Custom Homes is a family-owned design-build practice rooted in Baldwin County. Chad builds one project at a time, with the same team from the first lot walk to the final punch list.

Chad Lynch and his family in Baldwin County, Alabama
The story behind the work

Some builders count projects. Chad counts families.

Chad Lynch has spent two decades building homes across Southern Alabama — not because the market pointed here, but because his family put roots here.

His wife and daughter grew up on these roads, under these live oaks, with the Gulf somewhere in the background. Baldwin County isn't a territory to Chad. It's the place his people call home. That changes how he builds.

When Chad walks a lot with a client for the first time, he's not running a sales meeting. He's trying to understand how someone plans to live — what the kitchen looks like at 6:30 on a school morning, where the grandkids will land when they visit, how the light comes through in the late afternoon when nobody's moving fast. Those aren't design questions. They're life questions. The design follows.

He started Palmetto around a simple belief: a home worth building deserves one team that knows every decision that went into it, from the first lot walk to the last coat of paint. No handoffs. No "talk to my project manager." When something comes up in the field — and it always does — Chad knows what was decided and why.

Palmetto builds fewer homes in a year than most production builders will frame in a week. That's intentional. The tradeoff: every client gets a builder who has walked their site in the rain, knows their selections by heart, and will still pick up the phone ten years later.

Meet Chad

A builder worth talking to before you buy the lot.

Most of the questions worth asking about a custom build happen before design starts — lot selection, budget reality, coastal requirements, timeline expectations.

Chad talks to clients early, honestly, and without a sales agenda. If Palmetto isn't the right fit for a project, he'll tell you that too.

How we work

Built around the work, not the volume.

Every Palmetto build runs through one accountable team. The same people who walk a lot with you in the first conversation coordinate selections, talk through coastal details, and review what gets installed in the field.

We build fewer homes a year than a production builder will quote — in return, the people building yours actually know what they decided, when, and why. Owners shouldn't have to chase down updates to feel current on their own home.

Where we build

  • Gulf Shores
  • Orange Beach
  • Fairhope
  • Daphne
  • Foley
  • All of Baldwin County

What that looks like in practice

  • One team from feasibility through punch list
  • Pre-planning before design hardens
  • AI-assisted coordination across selections, timeline, and field details
  • Owner updates that don't require chasing
  • Coastal performance built in, not patched on
Why we built it this way

Most expensive surprises begin as early assumptions.

The wrong lot. A vague allowance. A pretty plan that fights the site. Coastal details left for later. Palmetto organizes the build to surface those decisions before they get expensive — and to keep owners visible on the home they're paying for.
